Downtown Mesa Gift Card Launches

A brand new multi-venue gift card is launching in Downtown Mesa, making it easy to shop local and support businesses in Mesa.

The new Downtown Mesa Gift Card replaces the previous gift card program. With the new Downtown Mesa Gift Card, Gift Cards can be loaded for any amount from $5 to $500. The Gift Card is available for purchase through the website, DowntownMesa.com/gift-cards.

Each Downtown Mesa Gift Card is a prepaid Mastercard and can be used like a debit card across over 30 stores, attractions, restaurants, hotels and services. Old gift cards are still being accepted whilst they are phased out but are no longer being sold, to exchange please contact dtmgiftcards@gmail.com.

The project is being led by the Downtown Mesa Association and powered by Miconex in association with international payments technology solutions provider EML Payments.

“The new Downtown Mesa Gift Card is a way we can support our businesses all year round,” said Courtney Garrity from the Downtown Mesa Association.

“We have a unique downtown with the majority being local mom and pop traders. We needed to step up our gift card program and make it easier for our businesses to take part. The old Gift Card was really hard to administer. Businesses would have to bring the Gift Card to us and we would write them a check.

“It was also tricky for customers, because it could only be purchased in $10 amounts. That’s a lot of Cards if you wanted $50 or $100 worth. With the new Downtown Mesa Gift Card, people can spend the Card in one go or a little bit at a time, and the amount they spend automatically gets deducted off the Card.

“Businesses in Mesa have had it tough through the covid period. When you buy a Downtown Mesa Gift Card, you are supporting local traders when they need it most.”

“Give someone a Downtown Mesa Gift Card as a gift for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, as a birthday or holiday gift and you’re giving them a whole experience,” said Courtney Garrity. “A $100 Gift Card means they can have lunch, go shopping, enjoy a sweet treat from a bakery on Main Street. They can really experience Mesa.

“Our 39 sculptures, 6 museums, thriving arts scene and wide variety of places to shop- from antiques and vintage to gift stores and book shops- make Mesa a popular destinations for locals and tourists alike.”

Downtown Mesa’s new gift card program is part of a collection of downtowns who are also introducing similar initiatives, including Downtown Lynchburg, Downtown Billings and schemes in Cordova and Port Huron. EML provide the technology for 100 downtown gift card programs and 500 mall gift card programs whilst Miconex operates 50 Town and City Gift Card programs in the UK and Ireland.
