Idaho’s ‘Fest City’ unveils new Gift Card

Moscow has a brand new Gift Card that can be spent with stores, restaurants, boutiques and more in the Idaho city. Known as Fest City for its lively celebrations and charming hometown vibe, the Moscow Gift Card is designed to showcase the city’s unique offering and keep more dollars local.

Driven by Moscow Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center (MCOC+VC), the Moscow Gift Card can be purchased by locals and visitors alike, redeemable with multiple participating businesses for the full Moscow experience.

Samantha Martinet, Executive Director at MCOC+VC said that the Gift Card is a way to create more commerce locally:

“Moscow is a vibrant, welcoming city with a huge student population and many visitors. Through the Gift Card, we can build the sense of community in Moscow and help our businesses to grow. As the Moscow Gift Card can be spent on everything from food to clothes, eating out and activities, it’s a gift that works for all ages.”

Samantha adds: “Many organizations buy Gift Cards for their staff and they tend to default to generic Gift Cards that offer convenience. The Moscow Gift Card offers that same level of convenience combined with choice for the recipient and tangible support for local.”

Ana Blaisdell is Gallery Manager at Essential Art Gallery & Fine Gifts and said they are excited to be a part of the new Moscow Gift Card:

“We are a retail fine art and gifts shop located on uptown Main Street, carrying unique art and gift items from all over the US and Canada, and we also carry the best chocolate in town! After seeing the research about how people are more likely to try visiting a business for the first time when they have a Gift Card, we thought it was a great opportunity to encourage people to visit our business who have never felt comfortable coming in on their own.

“The Moscow Gift Card is also easy to us to implement, requiring minimal training and no special equipment. Funds are received quickly into our bank account, so there is no need to wait around for someone to cut us a check. Also, the tracking on the back end is super slick, so the Chamber of Commerce can send us a report to show how many people have used their cards in our location, and how much they’ve spent.

“These Gift Cards make for great employee incentives/rewards for the larger employers in the area, as well as great gifts for students who are new to the area, which can draw more of these folks to shop downtown and feel empowered to try something new! We are excited to bring more people to shop at the awesome places in uptown and downtown Moscow!”

Colin Mannex from non-profit Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre said the Gift Card is a passport to a range of experiences:

“The Kenworthy PAC is a downtown, non-profit movie theater and live arts venue committed to providing quality entertainment found nowhere else in the region.  We aim to provide affordable and accessible options for all patrons, and people come to the Kenworthy because they know the staff and support the non-profit’s mission.”

“This Gift Card program allows us to reach new people for a night out or a family matinee. I’m excited to see new business come through the doors when people have this new passport to spend an afternoon shopping, dining out, and see a show with us. When people support local businesses, they’re investing in the vitality of our community. Our community is a more interesting place when we have economic support to keep local businesses alive.”

Restaurants including La Casa accept the new Moscow Gift Card. Mitchell Lopez from La Casa said:

“We decided to participate with the Gift Card program as we understand the value of being a part of a multi-business use card that will bring business to downtown. We are excited to have potential new customers from out of town, and in our community.”

The Moscow Gift Card is part of the Downtown Gift Card concept from payments provider Miconex in association with payments technology solutions provider EML Payments.  Downtown Gift Card systems run across the US.
