A new Gift Card to encourage people to shop local has launched in The District, Columbia.
Driven by the Downtown Community Improvement District (CID), The Downtown Columbia Gift Card can be spent with multiple participating businesses downtown, including shops, restaurants, venues, hotels and services.
Bordered by three universities and home to a variety of organizations, Nickie Davis, Executive Director at CID, said the Gift Card will be useful for students, organizations, visitors and locals alike:
“We’re super excited to launch our new Gift Card which is an all-round win for our community and a way to experience all we have to offer in The District, from our diverse bars and restaurants, nightlife, arts and culture and thriving retail sector.
“Many of our local organizations in Columbia offer great rewards and incentives for their staff, and the new Gift Card is a way they can offer their employees choice while injecting dollars into our local economy.”
Makes Scents on 25 S 9th St is a participating business on the new Gift Card. Christina Kelley, Owner of Makes Scents said: “It’s exciting to have a program that promotes downtown businesses! And that has flexibility on where it can be used. What a great gift for new students and residents to introduce them to The District.”
Essentialz Bodega at 900 E Broadway is another business which accepts The Downtown Columbia Gift Card . Dimetrious Woods, Founder of Essentialz Bodega said: “Essentialz Is excited to use the Gift Cards because they are going to bring new customers in the door and encourage returning customers!”
The Downtown Columbia Gift Card is part of the Downtown Gift Card concept from Miconex in association with EML Payments.
